MED6002General practice(MED)
Dr Carol Lawson 10 points + Six-week program of lectures, workshops, consulting skills tutorials and self-directed learning, including the use of specifically designed learning packages in the learning laboratory + Two general practice clinical attachments: One four-day attachment (2 full days per week for 2 weeks) to a metropolitan teaching practice + a two-week attachment to a rural teaching practice. Synopsis: The program is designed to provide the student with a general perspective of what is common and relevant in community-based health care. A high level of active student participation in tutorials, role-plays, workshops and clinical attachments is encouraged.The goals of the unit are to broaden student experience by participating in general practice teaching situations, to emphasise important features of community-based medical practice and to enhance the students' ability to diagnose and manage common general practice problems. Assessment: OSCE: 65% + Performance-based assessment during clinical attachments: 10% + Performance-based continuous assessment within the Department: 20% + Rural general practice written exam: 5% |
