MED5002Obstetrics & Gynaecology(MED)
Dr B Vollenhoven 10 points + Half of an 18-week rotation + Continuous attachment in a hospital environment (Integrated with an equivalent attachment in Paediatrics). Synopsis: Clinical teaching in a hospital environment including rostered labour ward activities such as deliveries and episiotomy repairs. Experience in postnatal ward clerking of obstetric patients and their babies; antenatal clinic teaching with practise of history and examination skills and performing of pap smears and gynaecology ward clerking activity. Surgical teaching including indications for and experience in gynaecological surgery. Attachment to special clinics in family planning, infertility, sexual counselling, sexually transmitted diseases, foetal diagnosis. A national core curriculum developed in conjunction with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology will be trialled in 2002. Assessment: Continuous assessment: 20% + MCQ exam: 40% + OSCE: 40% |
