MED4003Psychological Medicine(MED)
Dr Ian Presnell 8 points + Semester 1 (16 weeks): two hour tutorial each week + one hour lecture every second week + Semester 2: four-week attachment which combines observational learning, case presentations, informed participatory learning and self-directed learning. Synopsis: A program of lectures and tutorials during semester 1 enables students to develop clinical skills and gain an understanding of the general principles of clinical psychiatry and provides a structure for approaching psychiatric assessment and management using case histories. This extended in semester 2 with further seminars and a 4 week attachment to a clinical unit during which students are involved in seminars, patient admission and clerking, bedside clinical tutorials and direct observation of clinicians at work. This provides students with an opportunity to relate general principles to clinical practice in an integrated manner. Assessment: Case report: 50% + Oral Exam/Case presentation: 50% |
