6 points + Semester 1: 21/2 hour weekly program of integrated lectures, forums and case-based sessions + general practice site visit + Semester 2: 3 hour weekly program (4 week rotation) which provides a practical context, using lectures, tutorials and practical skills sessions.

Synopsis: A series of integrated lectures, case based teaching, forums, tutorials and practical sessions are used to allow the student to develop an understanding of medicine from a general practice perspective. The concept of population health groups and their specific biopsychosocial characteristics, along with common clinical cases presenting to the general practitioner, will form the foundation of the program. Underlying themes of multidisciplinary management, ethical issues, preventative measures, communication skills and patient education will be reinforced throughout the program. A general practice visit is also incorporated to allow the student to further contextualise their learning.

Assessment: SAQ & Clinical Interpretation Exam: 80% + General Practice Site Visit and Report: 20%
