TBA 6 points + Three 1-hour lectures per week + First semester + Clayton + Prerequisite: LAW3400 Synopsis: The rationale and scope of intellectual property protection. Copyright and neighbouring rights (including performers' rights and databases). Technological convergence and the development of the information superhighway. Registered designs and the protection of industrial design, trade secrets and confidential information. Comparative and international perspectives. The relationship between these rights and other parts of intellectual property law and competition law. Assessment: Written research assignment (2000 words): 30% and final examination (1.5 hours writing, 30 mins reading and noting): 70% OR final examination (2 hours writing, 30 minutes reading and noting): 100% |
