Mr Matthew Harvey 6 points + Three 1-hour classes + Clayton + Corequisite: LAW3200 Synopsis: Institutional structure of the European Union. The motivation behind the move towards a EU. Major treaties implementing the union: The European Economic Community Treaty, the Single European Act, the Treaty on European Union. Various institutions of the EU: the Commission, the Council, the European Court of Justice. Decision-making processes within the Community. The enactment of measures to create a single European market: the four 'freedoms': free movement of goods, services, people and capital. Assessment: Open book examination (3.5 hours): 100% OR optional written assignment (4,000 words): 50% and an open book examination (2 hours): 50% |
