JIT4621Interpreting current events in Japanese and English B(ART)
Staff 6 points + 1.5 hours per week + First semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: Monash post-level E Japanese or equivalent Synopsis: This unit constitutes the second stage of progressive training in consecutive interpreting with an emphasis on interpretation from Japanese to English. The unit is interrelated to JIT4622 Interpreting B which is taught by a native-Japanese speaker and consequently both subjects share the overall objective which is to train students to be able to perform at a para-professional level in a variety of English-Japanese interpreting situations with a special focus on Australia-Japan contact. Further studies on interpreting theory will also be undertaken. Assessment: Assignments: 30% + Theory test (one hour written test): 10% + Mid-semester test (10 minutes for each individual student): 20% + End-of-semester test (30 minutes for each individual student): 40% |
