Synopsis: The unit will consist of two sections: (i) Language (80%) and (ii) Aspects of Italian Culture (20%). (i) Language: practical language acquisition through the use of authentic materials. (ii) Aspects of Italian Culture: an introduction to contemprorary Italian Studies through an overview of recent history and the analysis of representative audio, video and written texts.

Assessment: Language: completion of language exercises and participation in oral workshops: 50% + End of semester language exam: 30% + Cultural component: 20%
