6 points + 2 hours per week + First semester + Peninsula + On-campus + Prerequisites: Completion of at least 12 credit points in a language or in linguistics units at second year level.

Synopsis: The seminars will investigate issues concerned with learning strategies, teaching strategies for second languages, language acquisition versus language learning, translation studies, and technology and language. By bringing together students who have had experience in learning and using different languages students will be able to reflect on the experience of acquiring languages and cultural understanding from a comparative perspective.

Assessment: Seminar presentation: 10% + essay (2000 words):60% + 1-hour examination: 30%
