IND2352Manufacturing processes(ENG)
J W H Price 4 points + 22 lectures + 11 seminar hours + 8 hours in work shop + First semester + Caulfield + Prohibitions: MEE2352 Synopsis: The basic forms of manufacturing in the solid, particulate, liquid and gaseous states will be studied. The roles, similarities and differences between various materials including polymers, composites, metals and ceramics. Manufacturing processes chosen from processes: casting, dies and moulds, resins and catalysts; forming including rolling, extrusion, sheet forming and forging; injection and blow moulding; mechanical cutting processes, milling, grinding and their tools; thermal and chemical cutting processes; joining, welding, adhesives and mechanical connectors; particulate sintering; manufacture of composite materials; coatings and testing. Assessment: Examination (2 hours): 70% + Assignments and projects: 30% |
