IAR1304Structures A(A&D)
3 points + 2 hours in class and 4 independent study hours per week + Second semester + Caulfield + Corequisites: IAR1410 Synopsis: Introduction to structures as mechanical concepts and as constructions. Case reviews of major interior and small scale architecture structural concepts and systems, elements of structural systems. Types of loadings. Forces and force paths, laws of statics, equilibrium, stress, strain, strength and stiffness. Basic structural elements and constructions such as arch, strut, column, beam, truss, frame, grid, slab, vault and dome. Assessment: Examination: 60% + Assignment: 40% |
