HFE4062Professional practice in human factors and ergonomics(SCI) Proposed to be offered next in 2002 Dr Graeme Hyman, Associate Professor John Price and Mr Arthur DeBono 6 points + 3 hours per week + Second Semester + OCDL + Students must complete 7.5 hours of laboratory work in a weekend school on-campus Synopsis: An up-to-date knowledge of relevant standards, guidelines and legislation is essential to professional practice. This unit will identify relevant ergonomic sources, and will familiarise students with the codes of practice of the Ergonomics Society of Australia, and government legislation as it impacts upon the workplace. The features of a successful ergonomic intervention will be outlined, with an emphasis upon macroergonomics, task analysis, employee selection, training, performance appraisal, and the need to communicate good ergonomics to management. The laboratory component will involve accessing relevant websites and a series of seminars. Assessment: Examination (3 hours, short answer): 55% + Laboratory report (2000 words): 20% + Essay (2000 words): 20% + Seminar: 5% |
