HFE4052Occupational health and safety(SCI) Proposed to be offered next in 2002 Dr David Goddard, Dr Jim Phillips and Associate Professor John Price 6 points + 3 hours per week + Second Semester + OCDL + Students must complete 7.5 hours of laboratory work in a weekend school on-campus + Prerequisites: HFE4022 Synopsis: An understanding of Occupational Health and Safety is fundamental to ergonomic practice. This unit provides an appreciation of OHS legislation and standards which will be related to workplace related injuries and human factors contributing to major accidents. This unit will address the impact of ambient conditions, job characteristics, equipment design, and stress upon accidents and human error. The laboratory program will address industrial hazards and modes of intervention. Assessment: Examination (3 hours, short answer): 55% + Laboratory report (2000 words): 20% + Essay (2000 words): 20% + Seminar: 5% |
