UNIX systems programming

6 points + 4 hours per week + First semester + Gippsland, OCDL + Prerequisites: GCO2817 + Prohibitions: CFR3111

Synopsis: Systems programming techniques and system software tools. Using existing systems software: shell scripts, Perl, filters, debugging and other tools. Developing UNIX systems software in C: making operating system calls, techniques used in common systems programs. Applications in web CGI programming. Access to the university's computer systems through an Internet service provider is compulsory for off-campus students.

Assessment: Assignments: 30% + Examination (3 hours): 70%
