EXM0004Exercise and age(MED)
Dr R Griffiths 6 points + Semester 2 + MMC, Clayton + OCDL Synopsis: Scientifically validated health benefits and risks of exercise from fetal to geriatric life. There are major health issues at each age in life that are highly influenced by the levels of physical activity. These include growth and maturation, the disabled child, muscle strength and flexibility, musculo-skeletal problems and injury, thermoregulation and dehydration. Students will understand how to apply this knowledge and prescribe exercise for these age related issues. Assessment: Journal report + Case studies + Project report: 60% + Discussion paper (2000 to 3000 words): 40% |
