EDF6514Adolescent development and its educational implications(EDU) Not offered in 2002 12 points + 3 hours per week + Clayton Synopsis: Developmental changes in adolescence, including physical, sexual, cognitive, moral and psychosocial development (particularly identity formation). The interaction of individual differences and social context with these developmental processes. The effects of school on adolescents, especially schools' adaptations to adolescent diversity (eg ethnic groups, handicap). The role of the school in helping adolescents develop decision making and life planning skills. Current concerns in adolescent research. Assessment: Essay (3000-5000 words): 70% + Class presentation: 30% |
