R Lisner 4 points + 26 lectures, 26 hours of tutorial and laboratory classes + Second semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: ECE4504 + Prohibitions: ECS4354, ECE5506, ECS5352 Synopsis: Principles of variable speed control for AC motors; variable voltage frequency operation; open and closed loop speed control; field weakening and DC bus voltage compensation; generalised d-q axis model of an AC motor; principles of field orientated and instantaneous torque control. Brushless DC motor systems. Stepper motor and reluctance motor control. Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Laboratory and assignment work: 30% |
