Synopsis: This subject offers a specialised investigation of the skills required for drawing the human figure with competence. Through a series of studio classes which make use of life models, skills in observing inner structure, gesture, spatial organisation and characterisation will be promoted. A range of technical studies of representational devices, mark selection and emphasis, and lighting, will be used to assist towards a broader understanding of the uses of figure representation in a variety of art practices.
