Trauma, culture and environment

6 points + 12 hours per week + Semester 1 (taught in block form) + MMC Clayton and/or approved OCDL sites

Synopsis: Major areas to be covered include: An overview of current trauma assessment and treatment; An understanding of how culture interacts with clients' responses to the clinician, and the psychiatric culture, and symptom presentation; Techniques in using existing diagnostic criteria (i.e. DSM-IV) while assisting a reliable culture review.

Assessment: Professional journal: 30% + Case study: 30% + Group project: 40%
