Enterprise Computing

(IT)

6 points + one 2-hour lecture and one 2-hour tutorial each week + second semester + Caulfield + Prerequisites: CSE3420 or SFT3200 or equivalent, CSE2201 or equivalent

Synopsis: The design and implementation of web and internet enabled enterprise systems involves the use of a range of technologies. Classes of technologies available to assist in these developments include Object Request Brokers (ORBs), Component Transaction Monitors (CTM's) such as Sun's Enterprise Java Bean (EJB's) Containers, JINI amd message services. The tools and techniques associated with these technologies address enterprise problems of transactions, security, interoperability and persistence. In this subject students will learn the issues underlying the development of enterprise computing systems in distributed environments and acquire practical skills in developing these systems.

Assessment: Assessment:Exam worth 50% of the marks for the subject. Assignments and tutorial work worth 50% of the marks for the subject
