COM3050New Media: Communications in the Electronic Age(ART)
Joanne Jacobs 6 points + 2 hours per week + Semester One + Clayton Synopsis: This unit introduces students to the changing relationships between media, telecommunications and computing industries, while investigating the practices of electronic publishing. It will provide students with an understanding of key developments in traditional media such as the book, print and broadcasting, together with an awareness of the social and political implications of communicating in the electronic age. The unit is divided into two general components, described generically as "Industries" and "Issues." Assessment: Minor essay (1000 words: 20% + Major essay(1500 words): 30% + Website (1000 words equivalent): 25% + Examination (1000 words): 25% |
