L Churilov 6 points + One 2-hour lecture + one 1-hour tutorial + First, second and summer semesters + Prerequisites: 3-year Australian Bachelors degree or equivalent. Synopsis: Fundamental operations of a typical Australian business Operating in merchandising, manufacturing or service delivery sectors. Emphasis is placed upon understanding and appreciating the management tasks that a business must perform. The life cycle of a typical transaction is presented and analysed, such as Sales, Order Entry, Inventory, Accounts Payable and Receivable, Production, Finance and General Ledger Systems. The application of techniques such as descriptive statistics, correlation, basic time series analysis, forecasting, regression and financial analysis are presented as a means of analysing and understanding business processes and strategic management of the organisation. Assessment: Business Process Assignment: 15% + Data Analysis Assignment: 15% + Examination (2 hours): 70% Students must pass the examination in order to pass the subject. |
