Alice de Jonge 6 points + 3 hours per week + Clayton + First semester + Prerequisite: BTC2110 or equivalent Synopsis: The law affecting Australian enterprises engaged in international business. Topics include international trade conventions; import and export procedures; carriage of goods by sea and air; bills of lading and the Hague-Visby rules; finance of international trade; payment and documentary credits; negotiable instruments; international commercial arbitration; the role of confirming houses and merchant banks and marine insurance. Assessment: Assignment 1 (1000-1500 words): 10% + Assignment 2 (2000-2500 words): 20% + Examination (open book, 3 hours): 70% |
