BND4011Clinical dietetics 3(MED)
6 points + 6 hours per week contact + 6 hours private study + First Semester + Prerequisites: Completion of Years 1, 2 and 3 of the Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics Synopsis: The clinical aspects of the dietetic training course are vocational so that learning with patients in a supervised environment is integral to the skill base, as in medicine and nursing. The student spends most time with patients under clinical supervision, gaining confidence over the duration of the subject, and increasingly taking more responsibility for patient care. The ability to communicate clearly with patients, staff, supervisors and other students, and the ability to function as a team member within the hospital and community environment is an essential skill to be developed during the course of this subject. Assessment: Examination: 40% + Critical analysis in tutorial: 30% + Case study presentation: 30% |
