BND2072Introduction to health care systems(MED)
Ms Vicki Barrington (Nutrition & Dietetics) 6 points + 2 hours per week (lectures) + 3 hours (practical and small group work) + 7 hours private study + Second semester + Prerequisites: Enrolment in Bachelor of Nutrition & Dietetics Synopsis: The subject introduces students to current methods of management in health care facilities. Topics discussed will include: the role and professional responsibilities of the clinical dietitian; lines of patient management and the health care team; established policies, management tools and procedures for nutrition care within clinical nutrition departments, including nutrition screening, identification of high nutritional risk patients and collection of statistical management benchmarks. Students will also attend orientation at health care facilities and the responsibilities of community dietitians within the network will be examined. Assessment: Examination: 40% + Case studies: 25% + Essay (1500 words): 15% + Small group sessions: 20% |
