BIO3041Mammalian biology(SCI)
Dr John Nelson 6 points + First semester + Clayton + Two 1-hour lectures, equivalent of 3 hours laboratory/field work per week + Prerequisites: 12 points from level 2 BOT/ZOO/BIO + Prohibition: ZOO3011 + Recommended ZOO2031, ZOO2042 Synopsis: Examines the mammalian fauna of Australia in relation to the world's mammalian fauna; the contributions that studies on this fauna have made to our understanding of mammalian biology; the methods that are used to assess population viability and the kinds of information needed to assess management status of species. The practical component involves a five-day field trip in February to the Strathbogie Plateau. Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 60% + Practical work and fieldwork: 40% |
