Colin Hope 24 points + First and second semesters + Clayton Synopsis: The dissertation comprises an extended discussion of an appropriate topic selected by students in consultation with the supervisor. It is regarded as a culminating test of the students' ability to produce, in respect of a significant archaeological topic, theme or theory, a piece of analytical and critical work. Prospective students should discuss the selection of a suitable topic with the Director of the Centre for Archaeology before the end of second semester of third year, for allocation of a supervisor, to enable the student to commence research during the long vacation. Assessment: Written 15,000 - 18,000 words: 100% + Should the piece of research include a practical component, the weighting of each part will be determined in discussion with the supervisor |
