The Bachelor of Business (Accounting) course is designed to provide graduates
with high-level skills in both the specialised field of accounting and the
general field of business management. Graduates will be capable of pursuing
careers in professional accounting and a wide range of business fields.
The course blends a conceptual theoretical framework with practical
applications and covers basic discipline material through to more specialised
accounting strand requirements. Graduates will be well equipped to seek
employment in both private and public-sector enterprises.
A study score of at least 25 in English (any) and in mathematics (any) at units 3 and 4 level, and a study score of at least 20 in any two other VCE studies.
Applicants may also satisfy entry requirements with qualifications equivalent to VCE, eg TAFE qualifications (a TAFE diploma or equivalent TAFE qualification) or comparable Year 12 qualifications, including International Baccalaureate, or other approved tertiary study.
Students who have not successfully completed VCE or equivalent may satisfy entry requirements by completing at least two Monash non-award single unit or open learning (OLA) units. Fees will depend upon the student's residency status. Local residents will be liable for the fees set by the government under the Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS) or on a full-fee-payment basis. In addition to part one, section five of the degree regulations, the following credit transfers have been standardised for the Bachelor of Business (Accounting):
On graduating, candidates will meet the academic requirements for entry to the professional year of the CPA Australia and The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
Day and evening classes are offered at Caulfield campus. Not all units are offered in all semesters.
The course will normally be completed in three years on a full-time basis and six years part-time, with the usual load being two or three units per semester. Evening classes are held between the hours of 6 pm and 10 pm, with students attending two or three evenings per week.

In
addition to the above 18 units in the 144-point program, students must choose
six electives from any discipline within any faculty, subject to approval from
other faculties.
The new course structure introduces greater flexibility and the following

Completion of the Bachelor of Business (Accounting) will enable progression to an honours year and a variety of postgraduate courses either at Monash or other Australian or overseas universities. Details of specific postgraduate courses are available on inquiry from the faculty.
