Unit selection and enrolment

Selection of units -- first-year students

Once you have been offered a place in the Faculty of Arts, you are strongly advised to attend the faculty's pre-enrolment session. This will assist you in selecting units and in understanding the structure of your degree. The session will also provide you with useful information in making a successful transition to university study. Course advisers will be available at the session for personal interviews. All first-year students should attend the pre-enrolment session, including those who have received second or third-round offers. If you are unable to do so, you will have an interview during the enrolment period with a faculty course adviser. The faculty adviser's role is to assist you when making unit selections for your first year studies and to answer questions regarding course requirements. You will find it helpful if you have a general understanding of the requirements of the degree in which you are enrolled.

Cancellation of units

Occasionally, units may be cancelled if there are insufficient enrolments in the units or if, due to some unforeseeable circumstance, there is no staff member to teach the unit. You will normally be given at least one week's notice of the cancellation.
