Master of Family Medicine


The aim of this 96-credit-point degree is to provide candidates with research and teaching skills to equip them for potential part-time or full-time careers in academic general practice. Candidates are required to have completed the Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine (48 points), achieving a credit or higher for the unit MFM2006 (Introduction to research methods). Candidates are required to undertake coursework and research over a two-year part-time period.

Course structure

The coursework includes elective units similar to those offered in the Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine, plus a compulsory core unit and minor thesis. Although MFM2007 (Learning and teaching) is not compulsory, it is highly recommended.

Assessment

Assessment will be by coursework participation, formal assignments, projects and minor thesis (MFM version only).
