Monash University is Australia's largest university, with a student
population of 44,000 and 4600 staff, and with international students making up
about 21 per cent of the total student enrolment.
Established in 1961, Monash has built an international reputation for
excellence in teaching and research.
Monash has eight campuses - six in Australia at Berwick, Caulfield, Clayton,
Gippsland, Parkville and Peninsula - and two international campuses, one in
Malaysia and another in South Africa.
The university has 10 faculties (Art and Design; Arts; Business and Economics;
Information Technology; Education; Engineering; Law; Medicine, Nursing and
Health Sciences; Pharmacy; and Science). This mix enables Monash to provide a
comprehensive range of courses in a diversity of disciplines, offering
professional qualifications in a great number of areas.
Monash University also offers a variety of teaching styles, including
conventional on-campus classroom teaching, electronic hook-up across campuses
(teleteaching) and off-campus distributed learning (distance education).
