Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Business and Commerce


General information

This double degree is a five-year full-time or equivalent distance education professional course and offers specialisation in the following engineering and business areas: interdisciplinary engineering with major studies taken in civil, electrical and mechanical engineering; accounting; economics; management; marketing.
Students may select the course through VTAC or may apply to transfer in at the end of first-year engineering or first-year business. Students entering through VTAC will take the normal Bachelor of Engineering course in their first year. For students transferring after first year, the normal Bachelor of Engineering entry requirements must be met along with at least a credit average in the first year of study.

Course structure*

Subjects with a total credit value of at least 96 points from the Faculty of Engineering and 108 points from the Faculty of Business and Economics subjects are to be completed, meeting the following requirements:
(a) Completion of six compulsory introductory six-point subjects, one in each of the following business disciplines:

(b) Completion of business major sequence of at least 48 points (eight subjects), including at least 12 points at each of second and third levels. (One core subject from part (a) may form part of the 48 points requirement).
(c) Completion of at least 48 points of business subjects beyond first level, including at least 24 points at third level (the business major sequence meets part of this requirement).
