Synopsis: Chemical structure, bonding and shape. Bioinorganic chemistry. Spectroscopy and analysis. Introduction to organic chemistry. Alkanes, stereochemistry, optical activity. Alkenes, aromatics, halides, alcohols, phenols, carbonyls, carboxylic acids and derivatives. Amines, amino acids, sulfur compounds.

Assessment: Progress examination (May) (1.5 hours): 10% + Practical work and other tests: 20% + End-of-year examination (3 hours): 70%
