Community Work: Theory and Practice

6 points + 2 hours per week + First Semester + Caulfield, distance + Prerequisites: SWK3240, SWK3120. Social Work subjects are available only within the context of the Bachelor of Social Work degree, or with permission of the head of Social Work.

Synopsis: This subject explores the concept of 'community' and its applications in Australian society; the theory and practice of the various community work models (social planning, community development and social action); the role of community work in social work activities; and the skills involved in the practice of community work.

Assessment: Self-designed projects (2250 words): 50% + Class paper (2250 words): 50%
