J Browitt 6 points + 3 hours per week + Second semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: SPN1070 or SPN1020 plus approval by course co-ordinator Synopsis: This subject traces the development of Spanish from so-called vulgar Latin, the Latin most commonly spoken by everyday people in the Roman Empire. It also follows the development of modern-day Spanish with its various dialectical evolutions both in peninsular Spanish and in the Spanish spoken in the Americas.
