Slavic contrastive studies

6 points + 3 hours per week + Second semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: Any RUS, SLA or UKR minor

Synopsis: The subject provides a contrastive study of two major Slavic languages with reference to other languages from the same group: Czech, Slovak, Polish, Serbo-Croatian, Ukrainian and Russian. It compares and contrasts such aspects as their sound and scripts (phonetics and orthography), grammatical structure and sentence structure (morphology and syntax) and vocabulary (lexicology).

Assessment: Written exercises (2500 words - 4 tasks): 50% + Examination (2 hours - 2000 words): 50%
