Synopsis: Most level three subjects offered in the School of Historical Studies are 6 point subjects. This subject provides students taking an approved corequisite subject with an opportunity to investigate it at greater depth and to interrogate its epistemological assumptions and pursue any related theoretical issues in a more substantial way than within the 6 point framework. For each student, the substantive content of the subject will differ, depending upon the particular problem they select for investigation. However, all students completing the subject will undertake essentially the same tasks - tasks designed to equip them with the methodological skills appropriate to a major in the Humanities.

Assessment: Class participation: 10% + Research proposal (500 words): 10% + Research essay (4000 words): 80%
