3 points + 6 hours per week including 2 studio hours comprising of lectures, tutorials and/or workshops and 4 independent study hours + First and second semester + Caulfield, Gippsland + Electives for BVA, BFA, BDes, BDes(VisComm), and other courses which give permission

Synopsis: Within the context of a visual art practice students will be introduced to the medium of photography. Students will become familiar with a range of contemporary and historical photographic imagery and will develop an understanding of the role of photography in contemporary visual art practice. Students will undertake a range of projects designed to stimulate an awareness of the formal and conceptual qualities of photography. In consultation with staff, students will undertake a self-initiated project allowing them the opportunity to explore the creative and expressive dimensions of the medium.

Assessment: Folio 80% + Journal 20%
