Photographing the city

(A&D)

6 points + 156 hours per week comprising of 39 class hours over 2 weeks full-time, including 4 field trips, plus 117 independent study hours/darkroom access hours + Accelerated mode + Commences prior to First semester and Second semester + Prerequisite: permission

Synopsis: This subject has two main aims. Firstly it will provide an opportunity for students to become faimilar with the landmarks, history, visual identify and design of the built environment of a city. The subject will allow students to visit and visually record a variety of interesting locations. It will enable georgraphical and cultural orientation of students through the medium of photography. Secondly, students will gain knowledge of the practice of photography in contemporary culture. They will learn basic technical skills of development of 35mm negatives and enlargement of black and white prints and other photographic formats.

Assessment: Initial folio:20% + Final Folio:80%
