PCY2001Ministers, minders and bureaucrats: the policy process(ART)
Colleen Lewis 6 points + 2 hours per week + Second semester + Caulfield + Prerequisites: PCY1001 and PCY1002 Synopsis: The subject analyses and evaluates the complexities involved in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of public policy at the federal, state and local government level. Special attention will be paid to the role of key players and the influence these individuals, groups and institutions can have on the formulation and implementation stage of the policy process in particular. The subject builds on the knowledge students gained in PCY1001 and PCY1002 and is designed to better equip students with the skills and knowledge expected of persons seeking employment in policy related areas in the public sector and in private sector organisations affected by government policy. Assessment: Seminar participation and presentation: 20% + Essay (3000 words): 40% + Examination (2 hours): 40% |
