6 points + 2 hours per week + Second semester + Caulfield + Prerequisites: PCE1010 and PCE1030

Synopsis: Topics covered include an introduction to theories of ethics, the moral foundations of policing, the rule of law, police accountability, professionalism, due process, discretion, use of force, institutional culture and individual character, contradictions in policing, deception, discrimination and the 'slippery slope'.

Assessment: Essay (2000 words): 40% + Tutorial presentation: 10% + Examination (2 hours): 50%
