NUR4912Critical care 2: general & special populations(MED)
Ms D Kiegaldie 3 points + semester two + oncampus + Gippsland and Peninsula + Combination of: lectures; tutorials (some may be held at clinical sites); laboratories; clinical; individual study; and electronic learning activities. Total of 78hrs for the semester. Synopsis: The critical care nurse encounters a diverse range of patients in the critical care environment. To effectively assess and manage these patients, a broad and diverse knowledge and skill base is required. The intent of this unit is to enable the student to develop proficiency in the management of general and special populations of patients in the critical care environment. This unit will also explore the management of patients experiencing acute psychiatric illness, substance abuse, or major obstetric complications. Skills related to dealing with crisis, grief and loss will also be introduced. Assessment: Clinical performance appraisal: 50% + Assignment: 50% |
