Emergency 1: illness

3 points + semester two + oncampus + Gippsland and Peninsula + 3 hours/fortnight comprising of: lectures; tutorials (some may be held at clinical sites); laboratories; clinical; individual study; & electronic learning activities. Total of 78hrs for the semester.

Synopsis: The emergency nurse requires a diverse knowledge and skill base to appropriately and effectively assess and manage clients/patients in the emergency department. This unit focuses on enabling the student to develop proficiency in the management of clients/patients who present to the emergency department experiencing respiratory; neurological; endocrine; gastrointestinal; or renal related illnesses.

Assessment: Clinical Performance Appraisal 50% + Exam 50%
