MUS4010Applied music: arranging and conducting(ART)
Peter Handsworth 12 points + 4 hours per week + First semester + Clayton Synopsis: The subject is taught through interactive seminars addressing the relevant issues associated with the formation and management of an ensemble, repertoire and composition/arrangement/orchestration of scores for the ensemble and its musical direction. Students are required to propose a program of works to be arranged and/or conducted for performance by a band, orchestra, choir or other approved ensemble. Students meet with a supervisor to discuss the arrangements, develop approaches to interpretation, and refine baton techniques specific to their program choice. Assessment: Written (3000 words): 30% + Practical assessment or arrangements (6000 words equivalent): 70% |
