Orchestral and choral performance and studies I

6 points + 4 hours per week + First semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: Audition

Synopsis: (i) Ensemble, orchestral and choral rehearsals and concert performance of selected works, and (ii) training in the materials and structures of music, emphasising musicianship and creativity, including melodic, rhythmic, harmonic and contrapuntal relationships and formal structures or studies in the history of Western music. Note: this interfaculty subject is available in some faculties as a three-point unit comprising performance only.

Assessment: BMus students: participation in two ensembles: hurdle requirement Non-BMus students: participation in one ensemble: hurdle requirement + Written (2000 words): 30% + Concert performance/Practical examinations: 70%
