Synopsis: Musical aesthetic, social and ritual concepts and practices expressed in the musical life of northeast Asia, especially selected performances of music and the related arts, and the topology of musical instruments in China, Japan and Korea.

Assessment: Essay (3500 words): 40% + Assignment (1500 words): 15% + Oral report: 15% + Two examinations (1 hour each): 30%
