Synopsis: Research methods appropriate to musicology, including an introduction to the practical aspects of historical musicology and ethnomusicology, especially methodologies associated with bibliographic studies, textual criticism, archival research, organology, iconography and performance practice.

Assessment: Seminar participation: 10% + Oral report: 10% + Seven written assignments (8000 words total): 80%
