MTH3022Dynamical systems and complex analysis(SCI)
Dr Tom Hall 6 points + Three 1-hour lectures and an average of one 1-hour computer laboratory and one 1-hour support class per week + Clayton + Second semester + Prerequisites: MTH2010 or MTH2111 or equaivalent + Prohibitions: MAT3011 or MAT3031 Synopsis: Phase-plane analysis of coupled non-linear differential equations; classification of stationary points. Complex numbers and functions; domains and curves in the complex plane; differentiation; integration; Cauchy's integral theorem and its consequences; Taylor and Laurent series; Laplace transforms; applications; use of a computer algebra package. Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 50% + Assignments and tests: 40% + Laboratory work: 10% |
