MTH1010Functions and their applications(SCI)
Coordinator: Dr Cristina Varsavsky 6 points + Two 1-hour lectures, one 1-hour problem class and one 2-hour computer laboratory class per week + First semester + Clayton + Recommendations: students who have not achieved an average grade of C or above in the written examination components of VCE Mathematical Methods units 3 and 4 are advised to complete this subject prior to MTH1020 + Prohibitions: GAS1601 or MAT1049 Synopsis: Functions, domain and range, function representation; different types of functions including linear, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric, polynomial and rational functions; function algebra; composition of functions; inverse of functions; transformations; modelling with functions; rates of change. Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 50% + Projects: 50% |
