Ms B Loff 6 points + off campus distributed learning (with 15 contact hours over 5 days) + Second semester + Caulfield General Medical Centre Synopsis: Review of legal and risk management principles related to health care setting. Examination of sources and mechanisms of law impacting on health care delivery. Sources of Victorian & Commonwealth law and legal systems. Key areas of medical law such as negligence, informed consent, confidentiality, clinical research, abortion, euthanasia, health services law, mental health law, infectious diseases law, health complaints law and coronial law. Inlcudes study of non-medical law impacting upon provision of health services and how to develop a legal argument. Assessment: Written assignments + Group presentation |
